Holistic Infant Development and Feeding Support

At The Baby PT we are passionate about helping babies feel comfortable in their bodies and progress through early milestones well. We provide highly specialized physical therapy and developmental support focused on breast and bottle feeding, prevention and treatment of torticollis and plagiocephaly or brachycephaly (flat head), development of head and body control for tummy time, rolling, sitting, crawling, standing, and walking.

As a small, therapist-owned practice, we provide care in a more personalized, efficient, and attentive manner than is often possible in larger clinics or state funded early intervention programs. We are typically able to accommodate new patients within one week, and are easily accessible by phone, text, and email between sessions. You will consistently see the same therapist who will really get to know your baby and family. We believe in constant assessment and adjustment of treatment plans to best meet the needs and preferences of both the baby and family. Care is available in our small office in Alexandria, VA or in your home in the Alexandria/Arlington area

About Me

Hi, I’m Dr. Allison Kops and I have been a pediatric physical therapist for over 10 years.  I received my Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Science and Doctorate in Physical Therapy both from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts.  I have always been passionate about working with the littlest patients, and while in graduate school I completed an additional certification program to specialize in the newborn through 2 years population through the Early Intervention model.  More recently I have completed an extensive lactation training program and achieved certification as a Breastfeeding Specialist.  Prior to opening my own practice, my professional experience has been split between working in the early intervention home visiting model, and working in pediatric outpatient clinics.  I also leverage my own experience, as a mother of children who had various early struggles, to guide my clinical approach and communication with families.
