Pediatric physical therapy

Comprehensive evaluation of body structures, passive mobility, strength, muscle tone, gross motor skills, and sensory regulation as they relate to functional skills from birth to walking.

Treatment modalities to improve movement and function, reduce pain, and promote longterm health and wellness. Sessions typically include a combination of neuromuscular reeducation, gentle manual therapy (“bodywork”), functional strengthening, strategic positioning, and parent coaching.

Comprehensive evaluation of body structures, passive mobility, strength, gross motor skills, oral motor skills, and sensory regulation as they relate to functional skills from birth to walking. Use of various hands-on treatment modalities to improve movement and function, reduce pain, and promote longterm health and wellness. Sessions typically include a combination of neuromuscular reeducation, gentle manual therapy (aka “bodywork”), functional strengthening, strategic positioning, and parent coaching. Common concerns include:
  • head flattening (plagiocephaly, brachycephaly)
  • head turn preference (torticollis)
  • developmental delay
  • low muscle tone (hypotonia)
  • high muscle tone (hypertonia)
  • difficulties with early motor skills
    • head/neck control
    • tummy time
    • rolling
    • sitting
    • crawling
    • standing
    • walking
  • breastfeeding or bottle feeding inefficiency
  • pre/post-frenectomy therapy, etc.

Comprehensive lactation consultation

Consultative and therapeutic support for lactating parent and babies consuming breastmilk from breast or bottle
Comprehensive assessment, intervention, and education for infant and maternal factors that may be impacting lactation, breastfeeding, and/or bottle feeding. Since we strongly believe that infant feeding is a whole body sensorimotor skill, sessions often include neuromotor (functional) therapy, manual therapy (passive “bodywork”), and developmental support. Common concerns include:
  • Establishing feeding and/or pumping in newborn period
  • Pain with latching and breastfeeding
  • Slow weight gain
  • Low supply
  • Suspected lip or tongue tie
  • Prolonged or inefficient feedings
  • Frustration during feedings
  • Colicky or fussy babies
  • Suspected reflux
  • Difficulty accepting a bottle
  • Suspected food allergies or intolerances
  • Breast or nipple pain / injury
  • Mastitis
  • Clogged / plugged ducts
  • guidance for establishing feeding and/or pumping in newborn period
  • functional feeding assessments – identify factors contributing to current struggles and create a plan for improvement
  • pre- and post- feeding weights for assessment of milk transfer
  • pain-free latch and breastfeeding support – resolve nipple pain, shallow latch, clicking, or poor milk transfer using a whole-body approach
  • bottle feeding support – help with bottle refusal, excessive air intake, leaking, or long feed times, etc.
  • engorgement, plugged ducts, and mastitis – therapeutic techniques to manage breast inflammation and pain
  • low milk supply – increase supply and plan to transition back to exclusive use of breastmilk (if desired)
  • slow weight gain – monitor infant growth and provide guidance on feeding routines, including supplementation when indicated
  • oversupply – manage excess milk supply and associated complications
  • oral motor therapy – strengthen orofacial muscles for more effective sucking, swallowing, and coordination
  • gross motor therapy – strengthen whole body muscles for improved positioning, stability, and efficiency
  • manual therapy (“bodywork”) – improve mobility and reduce tension
  • conservative management of lip and tongue tie when possible / desired
  • pre- and post- frenectomy care – referrals, guidance on timing, and pre- and post- frenectomy therapy when indicated
  • returning to work & pumping plans – learn how to maintain milk supply using a customized pumping plan
  • weaning support – personalized guidance for stopping breastfeeding
  • starting solids – guidance on introducing complementary solids
  • proactive guidance for infant development & milestones
